In news that will delight stateside liquor connoisseurs, Patrón has announced its debut into the prestige spirits market with the launch of the brand’s latest expression, Patrón El Alto.
Masterfully fashioned using 100% Weber Blue Agave sourced from the highest points of Jalisco, Mexico, Patrón El Alto is crafted with Extra Añejo and subsequently blended with a mix of Añejo and Reposado tequilas, each of which have been aged to their maximum potential, a thrilling innovation which Patrón claims is the utmost pinnacle of perfection.
“Patrón El Alto stays true to Patrón Tequila’s traditional roots in distilling while innovating in a way that achieves the best blended, aged tequila profile possible,” said David Rodriguez, Patrón master distiller.

“The tequilas that harmoniously come together in Patrón El Alto are a result of selecting the finest 100% Weber Blue Agave in the highest parts of Jalisco, a territory known for producing the sweetest agaves, which gives Patrón Al Alto its incredibly smooth and sweet taste. We took four years to focus on only the best of the best and perfect the bold, sweet flavors of this expression the right way: naturally.”
This prestige tequila features nuanced notes of figs, honey, caramel, dried fruit and vanilla. The sweetness of the dried fruit, of which the taste is subtle on the tongue, is a result of the tequila being aged in 11 barrels, mostly hybrid barrels of French oak heads and American oak body.
It is worth mentioning that Patrón is one of the few mainstream brands on the market that still make its tequila by hand, a process that has been used since the early days of Patrón’s inception in 1989.

And the process doesn’t get any simpler: Patrón El Alto is created through the use of the traditional Tahona production process, in which a two-ton volcanic stone is utilized to crush the baked agave, which has the effect of immersing the tequila with a natural sweetness. Patrón is the leading producer of tequila made using this method.
“Patrón has been an industry leader and will once again change the game as it enters the prestige category of tequila with the launch of Patrón El Alto,” said D-J Hageman, vice president at Patrón.
Patrón El Alto is available in U.S. markets exclusively, and will retail for $179.
