The Living Room at Miami Beach is much sleeker and swankier than its homely name would suggest. The bar is kitted out with velvet and faux fur furniture, giving the Art Deco décor more than a hint of luxury. Leopard and tiger statues adorn the hallways as you enter, a continuance of the animal theme. The Living Room has more to offer than solely its furnishings, however. The cocktail menu is an exciting feature in itself, with the bar being subject to a mixology overhaul by Scott Beattie in 2012. Beattie himself is renowned for writing the seminal book “Artisanal Cocktails: Drinks Inspired by the Seasons”, the go-to work on cocktails for many years. Latterly, he has been responsible for some ground-breaking cocktail programs across the country, including at The Living Room. Bespoke drinks are available, of note is Rye’s & Fall, a delicious combination of Mitchter’s rye, apple and lemon juice, along with ginger beer. To go with their fabulous range of cocktails are the twenty bands they have on rotation, ranging from jazz manouche to Latin funk, and bossa nova, guaranteeing a great experience for a night out.
