Regent Seven Seas Cruises has gone above and beyond to make its new ship, Grandeur, one of the most opulent ever built with the announcement that it will house a stunning one-off Fabergé Egg.
Due to launch in November 2023, Seven Seas Grandeur will be a floating fine art gallery with a multi-million dollar collection on board. The custom-made Journey in Jewels will be the proverbial anchor in the collection and become the first Fabergé Egg to reside permanently at sea.
The luxury cruise line is well known for its fine art collections, previously offering guests access to exceptional works by the likes of Picasso, Miró and Chagall across its fleet. Guests will not be able to purchase the egg, but will instead have the opportunity to marvel at it during their time on board.

“With each new ship we want the journey itself to provide opportunities for discovery and enrichment as much as the destinations along the way,” said Jason Montague, president and CEO of Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
“We knew that our very own Fabergé x Regent Egg could become the type of awe-inspiring piece that would captivate and inspire our guests throughout their voyage with us.”
The egg’s design has been inspired by both heritage and the ocean. The three tiers are said to mimic a waterfall and feature green and turquoise hues. The egg’s outer shell looks like deep blue waves crashing against the shore with the sea spray recreated with pearls.
Particular attention to detail has been paid to its ombre enamel shell, the very first time Fabergé has applied this technique to an egg. Enameling is a challenging technique at the best of times but is near-impossible on the curved surface of an egg. By the time it is finished for the November 2023 maiden voyage, it will have taken two years to complete.
The egg will have seven blades, representing the seven seas, which will unfurl to reveal a surprise, details of which will only be revealed once Seven Seas Grandeur is christened.
Fabergé Spotlight Voyages
To celebrate the launch of the partnership, Regent Seven Seas Cruises has also revealed two Spotlight Voyages that will immerse guests in the world of Fabergé. The first will be hosted by curational director Dr Géza von Habsburg onboard Seven Seas Splendor in June 2023.
Sarah Fabergé, great-granddaughter of Peter Carl Fabergé and founding member of the Fabergé Heritage Council, will also host a sailing on board Seven Seas Grandeur in 2024.
Montague said: “These exclusive new Spotlight Voyages are inspired by the timeless allure of the Fabergé Maison, lifting the veil of untold stories throughout its legacy. Travelers will not only be immersed in the rich culture and heritage of the world’s foremost jewelry brand, but they will also enjoy the unrivaled Regent experience, which has been honed to perfection over 30 years.”
