Now that we’re undoubtedly full-swing into the festive period, it seems appropriate that our cocktail of the week is a Christmassy twist on the classic gin sour. Silent Pool has released a range of Christmas-inspired cocktails to complement their rich, clean, juniper-driven gin.
The gin itself is presented in a beautifully crafted bottle, subtly decorated with indications of the tasting notes of the 24-botanical strong spirit. Expect to taste floral layers of lavender and chamomile, notes of citrus and kaffir lime leaf. Capturing the spirit of the Surrey hills where the small distillery is nestled, every drop is both traditional and refreshingly individual.

Gin is always a winner at Christmas. Whether you’re looking to impress with a simple but crowd-winning gin cocktail or just sip a light, refreshing G&T when you’re still a bit too tender to get straight back on the wine, gin is a great option at this time of year.
With the first noted recipes for gin sours dating back to the mid-1800s, and many sources attributing its creation to the British Navy, this classic cocktail is a fitting way to enjoy Silent Pool’s quintessentially English gin – but given the time of year it’s only right that a few small additions should be made.

The Mulled Wine Sour is the perfect twist on a classic to enjoy over the next month. The addition of mulled wine syrup enhances the sweet but sour traditional taste of a gin sour and gives the drink a warm, almost peachy look which would look completely at home in any Christmas setting. Make sure to add the Angostura bitters to finish – they’ll add festive notes of cinnamon and clove.
“Quality ingredients, paired garnishes, and creativity are essential to broaden your palate,” says Silent Pool brand ambassador, Marion Zoelle. “Quaint ingredients like the Silent Pool Christmas mist are perfect to enhance festive recipes like the Silent Pool Mulled Wine Sour. The key to cocktail-making is not to be afraid to try new combinations of flavors.”
