As of 1:00 pm, this first day of May has started off beautiful and a little cool, but those temperatures have made a nice recovery just after midday. Temperatures are in the upper 60s to the upper 70s across the area, with Gadsden coming in as the cool spot at 68 degrees. Montgomery was the warm spot at 78 degrees. Birmingham was sitting at 73 degrees.
We will continue to have sunny skies across Central Alabama through the rest of the daylight hours into the early evening. It will be a really nice afternoon with highs eventually reaching the mid to upper 70s for most across the area. For tonight, skies will once again be clear and lows will bottom out in the upper 40s to the mid-50s across the area.
We’ll have two chances to be able to see the train of SpaceX Starlink satellites in the sky tonight, even though they may not be as bright as they were on Thursday night. The first opportunity will be for groups 6 and 7 as they will be going from west to south across the sky starting around 8:22 pm and will be visible for roughly 3 minutes. Elevation in the sky will only max out at 18 degrees, so they will be very low on the horizon. The second opportunity will be a much better chance as group 3 will be going from southwest to north across the sky, maxing out at 47 degrees. They should be visible starting around 9:20 pm and may last as long as 5 minutes.
The forecast for Saturday is absolutely awesome as sies will be sunny and highs reaching the lower to mid-80s. Sunday will be even warmer in the mid to upper 80s for most with mostly sunny skies. Our next chance of rain looks to be on Monday and Tuesday as scattered showers and a few thunderstorms may be possible over the northern half of Central Alabama. Highs on both days will be in the mid-80s to the lower 90s across the area.
