As of 11:20 am on this last day of April for 2020, we continue to have some pesky clouds keeping some of the sunshine from reaching the surface across Central Alabama. The good news is that those will continue to push out of the area through the rest of the day, Temperatures as of the 11:00 am round-up were in the upper 50s to the upper 60s across the area. Sylacauga and Alexander City were the cool spots at 59 degrees. Montgomery was the warm spot at 68 degrees. Birmingham was sitting at 62 degrees.
We’ll continue to have decreasing clouds and increasing sunshine throughout the rest of the daylight hours and there will be a little bit of a breeze out of the west-northwest at 5-15 MPH with gusts possibly reaching 20-25 MPH. That wind will make the mild afternoon highs in the upper 60s to the lower 70s feel a little cooler.
Skies should be clear after sunset and we should be able to get a great view of SpaceX’s Starlink satellites as they will be moving across the sky starting just after the start of the 8 o’clock hour. They will be visible as they will track from the northwest to the southeast across the sky. The total visible time should be around 4 minutes. Temperatures will still be comfortable at the time, mainly in the mid to upper 60s. After that, those temperatures will be falling into the mid to upper 40s for the overnight lows.
Friday will be a brilliant, warmer, and dry day across Central Alabama. Skies will be sunny throughout the entire day. Afternoon highs will be warmer topping out in the mid to upper 70s across the area.
