A Beautiful Midday Across The Area, But Watch Those Hats

As of the strike of the chimes at 12:00 pm, skies across the area were absolutely clear with all locations in Central Alabama receiving maximum sunshine. That may be the only thing that will help you feel a little warmer, but those gusty winds out of the north will knock any warmth out of you, especially for those locations east of I-65. Temperatures were in the 50s across the area for the most part, with the only spot in the 60s was Montgomery at 61º. Haleyville was the cool spot at 52º. Birmingham was sitting at 56º. All of the reporting stations were showing wind gusts above 20 MPH with the highest gust as of the 12:00 pm Roundup at 30 MPH at Troy.

A Wind Advisory continues for Autauga, Barbour, Blount, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Elmore, Etowah, Jefferson, Lee, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, & Tallapoosa counties until 6:00 pm this evening. Winds will be averaging at 15-25 MPH across the advisory area with gusts up to 35 MPH expected at times. Be sure to be careful out on the roadways if you drive a high-profile vehicle.

For the rest of your Friday, skies will remain sunny through the daylight hours and remain clear through the evening. It will be breezy outside with some strong gusts at times, so be sure to secure any loose items outdoors. The wind will eventually settle down this evening, but it will make it feel colder than the actual temperature. Afternoon highs will get into the lower 50s to right at 60 degrees from north to south across the area. Skies will be clear and it will be cold through the late night and overnight hours. Lows will dip down into the lower 30s across the area with some of the colder pockets dropping into the upper 20.

Maximum sunshine can be expected for your Saturday as we’ll have a little warmer day with much less wind. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 50s to the lower 60s across the area with winds continuing to flow out of the north at 5-10 MPH. We will begin to have a few clouds move across the sky during the evening to late-night hours, but overall, skies will be mostly clear. Lows will be in the lower to mid-30s for most locations.
