Tornado Watch Issued For Parts Of North/Central Alabama To 11:00 PM

A Tornado Watch has been issued for all counties in North Alabama (Colbert, Cullman, Dekalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan) and for the following counties in Central Alabama: Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marengo, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston. The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Tornado Watch for portions of
Western and northern Alabama
Far southeast Mississippi
Far southern middle Tennessee

* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 345 PM until
1100 PM CST.

* Primary threats include…
A couple tornadoes possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

SUMMARY…A line of strong to locally severe thunderstorms should
progress east from northeast and central Mississippi across
west-central and northern portions of Alabama into far southern
Tennessee this evening, offering a risk for damaging winds and a
couple tornadoes. An additional cluster of strong to severe storms
over southwest Mississippi may eventually spread east towards
southwest Alabama.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 55 statute miles
east and west of a line from 85 miles south southeast of Meridian MS
to 50 miles north northeast of Muscle Shoals AL. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

REMEMBER…A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings.
