The Storm Prediction Center has just released its latest Day 1 Convective Outlook and has upgraded portions of central and southwestern Mississippi and eastern Louisiana to a Moderate Risk (level 4 of 5) for severe storms.
For North/Central Alabama, the Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) remains unchanged while the Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) has been extended eastward slightly to include much of the west of the area. A Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) continues for the locations closest to the AL/GA state line.
The above image shows the risk for tornadoes with a 15% chance of an EF2-EF5 tornado occurring within 25 miles of a point in the Moderate Risk zone. Much of the Enhanced Risk zone has a 10% chance. Tornadoes are possible but a little less likely in the Slight Risk zone.
Places that are under the gun for significant severe weather include Alexandria LA, Jackson MS, Meridian MS, Vicksburg MS and Clinton MS.
