Just Might See Some Very Light Accumulations In Northern Parts Of Central Alabama

NWS Birmingham has just released a quick update concerning the ongoing rain/snow event across Central Alabama. The changeover has already begun in the northwest corner of the area and may continue to spread east and southeastward a little way before all comes to an end later tonight and into the overnight hours.

The thinking of minor accumulations has been moved a little farther south than originally reported this morning. Now there is the potential for accumulations of snow up to 1/4 inch and/or a trace of sleet for locations along and north of a line from Vernon to Warrior to Centre.

Any snow accumulations will mainly be less than 1/4 inch, mainly on grassy surfaces, along with trace amounts of sleet. Isolated 1/4 to 1/2 inch amounts cannot be ruled out, mainly in Marion and Winston Counties. The only impacts will be the potential for any leftover moisture on surfaces to freeze during the overnight hours.

I’ll keep you posted throughout the remainder of the day.
