Sunny skies greet you as you go on your lunch breaks today at midday, along with some nice temperatures for the latter part of November. As of the 11:00 am roundup, Central Alabama was in the upper 50s to the mid-60s. Birmingham was at 63 degrees. Talladega was the cool spot at 58 degrees. The warm spots were Montgomery and Tuscaloosa at 65 degrees.
We’ll continue with mainly sunny skies throughout the rest of the daylight hours, but we may see a high cloud or two move across from the west. It will be very nice with afternoon highs reaching the mid-60s to the lower 70s across Central Alabama. Clouds will begin to be on the increase throughout the night time and overnight hours but we’ll remain rain-free. Overnight lows will fall into the lower to mid-40s.
While we’ll continue to have some ridging over the southeast, it will weaken and start to be pushed eastward out of the area. While that occurs, it will remain strong enough to keep rain from an approaching cold front out of Central Alabama through the daytime hours on Thursday. There may be a few showers in the extreme northern parts of the state, but at this point, they look to stay north of the area. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 60s to the mid-70s underneath partly cloudy skies. Some showers are possible over the northern half of Central Alabama during the late-night and overnight hours, especially north of the I-59 corridor. Lows will be in the mid-40s to the lower 50s.
Tropical Storm Sebastien continues to churn away out over the open waters of the tropical Atlantic Ocean, with winds maxing out at 50 MPH. A turn to the northeast will occur later today and will eventually be swept up in a frontal system. No threat to any landmass. The rest of the Atlantic Basin remains quiet as we now only have 10 days left in the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
