Strong Storms With Gusty Winds Already Affecting Western Parts Of Central Alabama

While the storms don’t look all that impressive, NWS Birmingham has issued a Significant Weather Advisory for parts of Walker, Tuscaloosa, Pickens, Greene, Sumter, Fayette, and Lamar counties until 9:15 am.

At 8:16 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking heavy rain with gusty winds along a line extending from near Preston to near McFarland Mall. Movement was north at 55 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include…
Tuscaloosa, Northport, Jasper, Winfield, Fayette, Aliceville, Carbon Hill, Vernon, Sulligent, Gordo, Reform, Millport, Carrollton, Pickensville, Holt, Moundville, Brookwood, Coaling, Berry, and Parrish.

Heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
