The Latest Thoughts From NWS Birmingham On PTC-16

Potential Tropical System #16 is forecast to reach tropical storm strength by the time it reaches the Florida Panhandle late Friday night. It will lose tropical characteristics as it moves across south Georgia by Saturday afternoon. Based on the current forecast, the following limited impacts are possible across SE parts of Central AL:


Wind:
Breezy conditions are expected after midnight Friday night through midday Sunday. Winds may gust to 20-40 mph in areas south of I-85 during this time. Please see the attached wind gust forecast for details. A wind advisory may be needed for parts of southeast Alabama in future updates.


Rain:
Rainfall amounts of 1-1.5″ are possible for southeast Alabama between Friday night and Saturday night with rainfall amounts mainly under an inch elsewhere. This rainfall is not expected to cause any significant flooding impacts.
