Skies are mainly clear across Central Alabama as of 11:50 am… plenty of blue skies and sunshine with a stray cloud or two at times. Temperatures are still very warm to hot across the area ranging from the mid-80s to the lower 90s. Birmingham was at 91 degrees. The warm spots were Vaiden Field Airport in Uniontown and Tuscaloosa, both at 93 degrees. The cool spot is Haleyville at 86 degrees.
While we’ll continue with hot temperatures across Central Alabama, lower humidity levels will make it much more bearable outdoors. Afternoon highs will be in the lower to mid-90s across the northern half of the area, with mid to upper 90s in the southern half. Skies will be mostly clear across much of the area with some clouds forming over the southeastern parts mainly south of the I-85 corridor. There will be a chance of a few isolated to scattered showers down in those locations while the rest of the area will stay dry. No rain for tonight with lows dipping down into the mid-60s to the lower 70s across the area.
Another scorcher is expected across Central Alabama on Friday as there will be tons of sunshine and no rain. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 90s with a location or two hitting the century mark. Dewpoints will be in the upper 50s to the lower 60s, so it will not be as humid as the extreme heat we felt at the beginning of the week. I don’t care… it’s still hot!
