Mainly Hot & Dry At Midday

Nearly a clean sweep on radar at 12:42 pm with the exception of an isolated shower that has recently popped up in the western parts of Walker County, and a few isolated showers over a small portion of Pike and Barbour counties. The rest of Central Alabama was dry at this point with mostly clear skies. Temperatures were in the upper 80s to the lower 90s across the area. Birmingham was at 90 degrees while the hot spots were Uniontown and Jasper at 93 degrees. Auburn was the cool spot at 86 degrees.

For the rest of the daylight hours, we’ll continue to have mostly clear to partly cloudy skies across the area with only a small chance of isolated showers and storms north of a line from Demopolis to Prattville to Opelika. Locations south of that line will have a little higher chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs will top out in the lower to mid-90s across the area. For tonight and through the overnight hours, any shower activity ongoing from the daylight hours will quickly come to an end soon after sunset, but we may have a few isolated showers swing through the northern parts of the area as a disturbance will be passing by to our north. Lows will be in the lower to mid-70s.

Wednesday will be a typical summertime day across Central Alabama… hot and humid with partly cloudy skies and a chance of isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms mainly during the afternoon hours. Afternoon highs will be in the lower to mid-90s.

All clear across the tropical Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico. No new tropical systems are expected to develop over the next five days.
